Located in Southern Wood County, 246 miles from Chicago, 158 miles from Milwaukee, and 178 miles from Minneapolis, the Wisconsin Rapids Area is made up of Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point, Port Edwards, Nekoosa, and Rudolph.
Wisconsin Rapids itself is located in the middle of the state along the banks of the hardest working river in the country, the Wisconsin River.
Nekoosa
Nekoosa is the Northern gateway to the large Petenwell Lake Resort Area. By virtue of the bridge crossing the Wisconsin River at this point, both sides of the lake are easily accessible to both residents and visitors.
The recently constructed boat landing (located on the South side of the city) on Pointe Basse Avenue provides easy access to Lake Petenwell for boaters and fishermen.
